The Most Satisfying Wall Transformation. From Sand to Smooth Walls: The Art of Stucco
Ever wonder how we turn rough old walls into beautiful, smooth ones? In this video, we’re walking you through the entire stucco process from start to finish — from sifting sand for the mix to layering and smoothing it across the walls until they look brand new.
Along the way, you’ll see every stage and pick up some takeaway info about why stucco matters: how it protects the old brick and mortar, the tricks we use to get it just right (including repurposed Coke bottles), and what makes this process so important for preserving these historic homes.
We’ll also give you a walk-through update at Rio Nilo so you can see how the house is coming together, plus some satisfying speed ramps of the crew in action.
If you love watching old homes transform and learning the “why” behind what we do, this one’s for you.

We Finally Level the Floors on this Crooked House
The rainstorm hit hard, and now it’s time to see if the ceiling held up—or if we’ve got a leak that could delay everything. We made a bet about it, and someone’s about to find out they were wrong.
If water got in, we can’t start leveling the floors. But if it didn’t? It’s go time.
In this episode, we check the damage, talk next steps, and finally begin pouring concrete to level out the old, uneven floors of this Mazatlán home. You’ll see how we’re transforming this space panel by panel, with timelapse shots of the floor leveling process and updates on where we’re headed next in this major home renovation project.
We’re Sophie and Soc, and we renovate houses here in Mazatlán, Mexico—bringing them back to life one room at a time. If you love old homes, satisfying renovation progress, and a little construction chaos, you’re in the right place.

There's a Hole in the Ceiling and it's about to Rain
Our biggest project is about to be underwater...literally. A tropical storm is rolling in and we’ve got a hole in the ceiling. If water leaks through, it could delay one of the biggest steps in this renovation—leveling and pouring the new concrete floors in the kitchen.
In this video, we head over to the site to check out the damage and talk through the plan to seal the hole before the rain hits. Then we walk through the house to show you the latest construction progress—including new walls, structural updates, and a few surprises.
Later, Sophie shows up, and she's worried about a different hole. She swears it’s going to leak. Soc says it won’t. So naturally… we make a bet.
We’re a husband and wife team renovating historic homes here in Mazatlán, Mexico, and bringing new life to old architecture. Think: tropical design, concrete floors, custom ironwork, and lots of chaos and beauty along the way.
