We Got Walls, Baby! Kitchen Renovation Update
We’ve officially moved past demolition, and now we’re building this kitchen back up one wall at a time.
In this episode, we walk you through everything that’s been happening on site, from setting the wall footings and false work to the moment the new walls start going up. The space is finally bright and open, and it's finally starting to make sense.
But in true renovation fashion, progress comes with a few surprises.
We discovered a structural column that no one knew existed, and realized one of the walls isn’t just a little crooked, it’s way off. So now we’re working on a solution that keeps the structure safe, preserves the design, and most importantly, makes our client happy.
We’re also learning more about the building techniques used here in Mazatlán’s hot and humid climate, and why they matter so much in keeping these old homes standing.
This phase is where everything starts to take shape, and where all the decisions we’ve made on paper start to meet the real-life quirks of the house. Thanks for being here with us while it all comes together (and occasionally falls apart).
