It's Time to Move to Mazatlan for Your Mental Health

Helen Keller once wrote: “I could never stay long enough on the shore; the tang of the untainted, fresh, and free sea air was like a cool, quieting thought.” Being able to walk along a coastline while hearing and feeling the sounds of the waves crashing against the sand and rocks has been known to put the mind at ease. And while this can seem like a mother’s tale it turns out that it’s been proven true.

Researchers surveyed over 25,000 British adults who live within a mile from a coast. They found that 22% were less likely to report mental health issues. Many other factors were taken into consideration such as the socioeconomic status of the participants.

While this particular study covered the coast, other studies have shown that there are significant benefits of nature especially in areas near water like rivers and lakes. Simply living by a body of water or “blue areas” can do wonders to your mental health. When life is stressful, the seemingly chaotic sea has the ability to quiet the mind. Simply gazing out into the horizon with the crash of the waves penetrating your thoughts, life’s stresses can seem to disappear.

To be able to live in an area that not only has a coastline but includes a bustling, vibrant and colorful, you need look no further than Mazatlan, Mexico. You never know, it could do wonders to your health. What are you waiting for? See you soon!
